Since July 27, 2006, the minimum requirement for becoming a psychologist in Quebec is a doctorate in psychology. However, persons who held a master's degree recognized by the Order when the new requirement came into force will remain eligible for the permit; the previous requirement will apply to them indefinitely. The previous requirement also applies to all students who were enrolled in a recognized doctorate program in psychology before July 27, 2006, if they obtain, in the course of their doctoral studies, a master's degree recognized by the Order.
