Audit Committee
The Audit Committee, consisting of three members, ensures that the Order's resources are managed in accordance with the policies adopted by the board of directors and the executive committee.
Awards Committee
The Awards Committee consists of a chairman and four members, all of whom are appointed by the board of directors from among the directors of the Order. The committee members assess the nominations submitted by members of the Order and make recommendations to the board of directors concerning the candidates who should receive the different awards.
Disciplinary Council
The disciplinary council is constituted under section 116 of Quebec's Professional Code and examines any complaint filed against a psychologist for an offence committed against the provisions of the Professional Code or the regulations and by-laws of the Order. The council hearings are public unless a request is made for an in camera hearing. The disciplinary council consists of a chairman appointed by the Office des professions and two psychologists well-known for their competence.
Review Committee
Under the provisions of section 123.3 of the Professional Code, the function of the review committee is to give, to any person who so requests and who has already submitted a request to the syndic for the holding of an inquiry, its opinion regarding a decision rendered by the syndic or assistant syndic not to lodge a complaint against a member with the Order's disciplinary council. Three persons must be present at the sittings of this committee, one of whom represents the public.
Professional Inspection Committee
The function of this committee is to oversee the practice of the profession, notably by conducting professional audits into the professional competence of psychologists. This committee determines the annual inspection program approved by the board of directors of the Order and statutes on the general professional competence of inspected psychologists within this program or on specific professional competence when needed. The committee is composed of five psychologists and of the secretary of the Professional Inspection committee.
Committee on Training of Psychologists
The committee on training of psychologists serves as an advisory committee to the Order. Its main function is to examine questions concerning the quality of the university training received by psychologists. This committee advises the board of directors regarding the university programs and courses leading to acquisition of the professional skills required to practice the profession. To fulfil this role, the committee has the essential task of assessing the objectives of the psychology programs offered at Quebec universities, in light of advances made in knowledge and practices.
This committee consists of two representatives of the Order, one of whom is appointed committee chairman, two persons appointed by the Conférence des recteurs et des principaux des universités du Québec (CRÉPUQ), and one representative of the Ministère de l'Éducation, des Loisirs et du Sport du Québec.
Continuing Education Committee
This committee helps improve psychologists' practices by assessing the continuing education needs of the Order's members, and by reflecting on the training activities that might be offered by the Order. It consists of five psychologists, including one representative of the board of directors.
Equivalency Committee
The equivalency committee examines the applications for admission to the Order submitted by candidates holding foreign diplomas or diplomas not included in the list of diplomas designated as giving access to the issue of a permit of the Order. The recommendations of the equivalency committee are then submitted to the executive committee for a decision.
Comité des organismes accréditeurs en médiation familiale (COAMF)
The members of the COAMF are as follows: the Barreau du Québec, the Chambre des notaires, the Ordre des psychologues du Québec, the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux du Québec, the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères en orientation et des psychoéducateurs et des psychoéducatrices du Québec and the Association des centres jeunesse du Québec. This committee's main function is to ensure interpretations and applications in compliance with the legislation applicable to family mediation matters, particularly as they pertain to the conditions and process of granting accreditation.
Remuneration Committee
The Remuneration Committee is a committee formed by the Board of Directors of the Order in accordance with the provisions of Article 86.0.1 of the Professional Code. This committee's primary mandate is to make recommendations to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee on the remuneration policy of the Order, especially regarding the remuneration of managers and elected officials.
