The Professional Code, basis of Quebec's professional system, applies to more than 300 000 professionals who are members of 45 professional orders. This code insures a legislative and regulatory coherence by submitting all of the orders to common principles. With the passing of the Professional Code, the professional system was assigned the role of protecting the public. To accomplish this role., professional orders regulate and supervise over the practice by their respective members of their designated professional activities.
Since the practice of psychology is a recognized profession in Quebec's professional system, the Ordre des psychologues du Québec and its members must function within the legislative and regulatory boundaries set by the Professional Code. The regulations passed by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec are aimed to insure the ethical and qualified professional practice of psychology by its members, from the start of their professional lives until its end.
