Nomination Process

To submit a nomination, it is important to prepare a nomination file.

The nomination file

The nomination file must include the following documents:

1) The nomination form (currently available only in French);

2) the résumé of the person being nominated, or if applicable, an introductory document describing the organization or company being nominated.

The files must be sent to the Executive Office no later than April 1st of the year in which the awards will be remitted. The awards ceremony is held every two years at the Order's convention. The next awards ceremony will take place in October 2010.  Nominations must be received by the Order's no later than April 1st, 2010.

Selection of Candidates

The nominations are first verified by the Secretary General of the Order, who makes sure they are complete and that the nominees meet the general eligibility criteria, i.e. that the psychologists are indeed members of the Order, that they have never been struck off the Order's membership roll for disciplinary reasons, and that they have never acted prejudicially to the Order or the profession. Posthumous nominations are not accepted.

The Awards Committee

The nominations are then forwarded to the Awards Committee, which consists of five administrators of the Order's board of directors: one from the Montreal region, one from the Quebec City region, two from other regions and one member of the board of directors representing the public. If necessary, the Awards Committee may call on psychologists who are not members of the board of directors for assistance.

The members of the Awards Committee for 2010 are:

Ms. Rose-Marie Charest, psychologist, president of the Order;
Dre Mona Abbondanza, psychologist, administratror of the Montreal region;
Ms. Catherine Mulcair, psychologist, administratror of the Montreal region;
Ms. Suzanne Déry, psychologist, administratror of the Quebec/Chaudiere-Appalaches region;
Ms. Éve Lavoie, member of the board of directors nominated by the Office des professions to represent the public
