Awards of the Order

The Ordre des psychologues du Québec is pleased to underscore the contributions made by members who distinguish themselves in exceptional ways through activities aimed at developing the profession, by granting three awards:

The Order also salutes the work done by a person or an organization to improve the public's psychological well-being, by granting the following award:

These four awards are given every two years at a special awards ceremony held at the convention of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.  Two awards are no longer given by the Order: the Prix Gérard-L. Barbeau et the Prix de la recherche en déficience intellectuelle.  However, you can see the list of past recipients for both of these awards.

 

Psychologists are invited to submit nominations for one or another of the awards remitted by the Order. Nominations for the Prix de la santé et du bien-être psychologique may be submitted by members of the Order or by non-members:

 

Prix Noël-Mailloux (Noël-Mailloux Award)

The Prix Noël-Mailloux, named in honour of Father Noël Mailloux, the award's first recipient and the founder of the Psychology Department at the Université de Montréal, is remitted to a member of the Order who has stood out for his or her contribution to the development of the field of psychology. This award underscores a lifetime career of excellence.

Dr. John Wright, psychologist


Rose-Marie Charest and John Wright

Dr. John Wright, psychologist, is a pillar in Quebec in regards to couple's therapy.  He started his career as a professor and researcher at the University of Montreal.  At the begining of the 90's, John Wright joins, as a clinician, the Poitras-Wright, Côté clinic.  In addition to his work in research,  John Wright has written many milestone books, such as  La survie du couple and L’intervention auprès du couple published in the middle of the 80s. He also contributed to the founding, in 2002, of the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur les problèmes conjugaux et les agressions sexuelles (CRIPCAS), in which he serves as the scientific director.  In 2008, he published the Manuel clinique des psychothérapies de couple, a unique book considered by his colleagues and co-writters as his legacy to the community.

Prix Professionnel (Professional Award)

The Prix professionnel is given to a member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec for one or more outstanding professional achievements.

Dr. Christine Grou, psychologist


Rose-Marie Charest and Christine Grou

Dr. Christine Grou, psychologist, practices neuro-psychology at the Louis-H. Lafontaine hospital. She is a innovator in different fields, noticeably in bio-ethics, medecine, psychology and neuro-psychology. Christine Grou also is also a clinical professor in many of Quebec's universities.  Her actions, her professionalism, her competence and her involvement have contributed to the development of neuro-psychology at the Louis-H. Lafontaine hospital and she as become a reference in the field of neuro-psychology in Quebec.

Prix mérite du Conseil interprofessionnel du Québec (CIQ Award)

This award is an official recognition attributed to a professional by the Conseil interprofessionnel du Québec (CIQ, or Québec Interprofessional Council) on the recommendation of his or her professional order, for having made an outstanding contribution to the organization or advancement of his or her profession. The members of the board of directors of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec submit the names of the candidates they recommend to the CIQ. The latter then selects the recipient.

Dr. Pierre L. J. Ritchie, psychologist, was a member of the Committee on Training of Psychologists for the Ordre des psychologues since its creation in 1997. His exceptional contribution was crucial in the elaboration of levelling standards for the doctoral training by competence programs in Quebec's universities.  His participation in the activities of the Order's Committee on Training has resulted in the Accreditation Manual, which has become an valuable tool for the Order, and the implementation of the accreditation process for the different university psychology programs.

Prix de la santé et du bien-être psychologique

This award is presented by the Order to recognize non-psychologists and non-psychological organizations whose unflagging commitment and involvement have helped significantly to improve Quebecers’ health and psychological well-being.

Centre de réadaptation Estrie

and Michel Dubreuil, board member of the CRE

The Centre de réadaptation Estrie is a landmark organization in the health and social services network in Quebec.  Its managing philosophy is inspired by the humanisation of the health services provided, which has an important impact on the welfare of its employees and its customers.  The CRE is affiliated to the international Planetree network and currently pilots the integration of a network of health care centers in Quebec based on the Patient-Centered Care philosophy in order to provide a more « humane » management of health services.
