Psychologist's Skills

Psychologists must have the general and specific knowledge necessary to carry out their duties.  These duties must take into consideration their clientele and the context in which they offer their services. They must also exercise good judgment in using their skills and respect the regulations governing their practice.

Psychologists' skills are classified into seven broad domains:

1) Interpersonal relations

2) Assessment

3) Intervention

4) Research

5) Ethics

6) Consultation

7) Supervision

On that subject, we invite you to take a look at the Accreditation Manual (in French) for the doctoral psychology programs giving access to a permit from the Ordre.

Also, the Ordre now has a Referential for Professional Activities Linked to the Practice of a Psychologist in Quebec (in French).  This document details the skills required by psychologists for the practice of professional activities as well as the criteria for demonstrating the mastering of those skills.
