Psychotherapists who are eligible to be members of one of the professional orders set out in the Bill must be a member of this order and each order will supervise its members’ practice of psychotherapy. If disciplinary inquiries or professional inspections must be carried out, the services of an expert psychologist will be retained to examine the psychotherapist’s work.
The Ordre des psychologues du Québec will continue to supervise its members' practice of psychotherapy and will also supervise that of psychotherapists who, when the Bill comes into force, have the required skills, but are not eligible to be a member of a professional order.
Any penal proceedings for the unlawful practise of psychotherapy or the unauthorized use of the title of “Psychotherapist” will be instituted by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.
